Well, I did mention it was a fake.

It's back already. Somebody wised up, but there will be others!
Well, when I first started getting a liking for pickelhauben, I bought one just like it, a fake. Decades ago, but it was only 95 €, in today's money.
Later on, when I got more, and more into the subject of collecting the real ones, I just gave it to a friend of mine. But at the time, I knew it was a fake, but it displayed well, and it gave me the urge to collect the real ones, which I did. Then again, I sure did not pay a lot for that one though.
Then again, people who just start collecting, and do not know the difference, between real ones, and fake ones, get fooled easily, which is a shame.

My first was an original Prussian M15 marked to an Infantry regiment, but it was in such terrible shape, that now I use it as a form for an Uberzug. But, there was virtually nothing for a new collector to learn from in the 1970's. I found Joe Walter's "House of Swords and Militaria' in Missouri, but he wasn't always 100% correct either. I DO have a few replicas, my favorite of which is a Bavarian for 'Oktoberfest'. ;)
