Question on Wilhelm II's personal epaulettes for the Garde du Korps

Thank you, that sets that to rest, as I thought it was a proper painting. (The other examples were all colourized photos, which can be easily attributed to incorrect colourization.)

How can you explain this painting which has gold epaulette tops on silver fringe?

Seems to only have a dozen pages, but I have ordered a scan from my university library, should come in a couple days. Thanks for the heads up. Anyone else feel free to pitch in

Identifying the exact medals and order on Wilhelm II's medal rack (pre-Great War)

Hello, I'm wondering if I can get help on identifying the exact medals and order of precedence for when Kaiser Wilhelm II wore the medal rack with his Garde du Korps (which does not seem to be that frequently--any comments why?) specifically before the Great War (so no Iron Cross, Pour Le Merite...

Any Makers of Garde du Korps Officer Cuirasses?

I'd love to be able to obtain an officer cuirass, in tombac preferably, either new or vintage.

Question on Wilhelm II's personal epaulettes for the Garde du Korps

Are the following elements in this photo the correct type for the Garde du Korps? --the half moon in SILVER --the W cypher in GOLD (I've also seen a W in a very wavy looped shape (very Art nouveau ish) --the crossed batons in SILVER --the Prussian crown in GOLD (I have seen crown sometimes not...

Question on Wilhelm II's personal epaulettes for the Garde du Korps

I see too many of Kaiser Wilhelm in epaulettes (including Garde du Korps) uniforms for it to be a colourization mistake. The only colourization mistake seems to be one depiction where the Wappen of the GdK helmet was also incorrectly coloured tombac to match the helmet. Here are some examples I...

Question on Wilhelm II's personal epaulettes for the Garde du Korps

Do you know the cord diameter? So would the two epaulettes be staxked atop each other?

Question on Wilhelm II's personal epaulettes for the Garde du Korps

I am aware that the epaulettes for wear with armour are longer, but do you have photos or figures to compare? Any comments on aiguillettes?

Question on Wilhelm II's personal epaulettes for the Garde du Korps

How were they kept on the armour? As there aren't really buttons to hang them by. I suppose same applies for the breast star, medal rack.

Question on Wilhelm II's personal epaulettes for the Garde du Korps

I take it the gold half moons are colouring mistakes then? I've noticed the silver trim on his helmet is coloured yellow instead of silver. Have you got info on what shape the aiguillette would be? As the type with the attached braided shoulderboard wouldn't work--there's already an epaulette?

Question on Wilhelm II's personal epaulettes for the Garde du Korps

I'm so sorry but it's very difficult to follow you, I am new to this. By your first comment, can you expplain why there are silver moon epaulettes as well as gold moon epaulettes? Was he promoted to gold at some point? Conversely, the photo with the white background does seem to show the W...

Question on Wilhelm II's personal epaulettes for the Garde du Korps

Thank you for the helpful reply. I'm going through these German resources witha. translation engine. The Warrelics page you linked is interesting as well: the litzen on the collar are considerably thicker on these compared to Wilhelm's personal one in my first post? Below (white background...
