A fool and his $1247 (plus shipping) are soon parted....
I agree. I don't buy ANYTHING until I look at the originals on kaisers bunker. Even if he does not have the same helmet plate (as in this case) you can certainlly look at the quality and construction of similar ones he has. That great web...
That is odd. It looks absolutely perfect, until you look at the back of the helmet plate.
The sunburst is stamped, but the center Mecklenburg Wappen appears to be cast?
Small collection? I could only dream of finding some of those helmets you have on your table.
Is that a very rare Mecklenburg officer's helmet plate I see in the background in your home? And ulan and dragoon helmets plates too?
Look at the artillery helmet section at the link below. Very good information.
It should help you.

Could you explain this please? "Three Regiments on a total of.. with this Wappen/Helmet plate"
Reserve officers of all line infantry regiments could have worn this helmet plate. That must be over 100+? Parade plume yes, but not the helmet plate. I love your photogrphy and quality of...
A little late, but a nice helmet. Were you aware it is not reserve? It is landwehr. Prussian reserve officers wore the cross on the tail of the eagle. Does not change at all how nice the helmet is.
I beleive that a guard helmet plate missing the star as on your M15 (and often found on Lancer 1915 Tschapka), is very different than the brass guard eagle that has never had the holes cut for the guard star that Mr. Lorree is working on. This is very unique.
One thing to mention, on a normal...
Very nice. Did you see this informative page up on a simialar shell case on Tonys site?

You must have original helmet plates yes? Look at the detail of the reverse compared to the one you linked to. The ebay one is not that good. There are much better ones made in Germany for the historical societies. Those fool many collectors they are so good.
I stand corrected. Your superb example is too fuzzy to be seal. It must be bear as you say. Wonderful!
Very interesting that this particular regiment issued in both seal and bear. I wonder if the seal were cheaper?
I am curious how you can tell is a "furry" busby is issued by looking at a photo?
I agree with Francis. If it is issued, it is seal. If it is private purchase, (and "furry" in a photo) then it is bear. But I have not seen an issued bear one.
I am curious what qualifies such a broad sweeping generalized statement that all field badges that are glued are fakes? By saying that you are declaring that many original private purchased field badges are fakes.
How many have you owned? I have owned over 40+ helmets with field badges and...
Have you examined the image under extreme magnification? If it is clearly two dots as you say, then you must be correct, it is not a 4. Very strange. Tactical markings on a cover are not discussed in any reference I am aware of.
