Well! Nice helmet! Personally, if I were going to actually wear one of the three Clovis showed, I'd take the middle one. ;) The Lachmann does have a unique shape to the cape. It might even been issued to some Kurassiers to improve posture. Cheers! Ron

Hi, going to be a little humorous here. It is indeed a real helmet, just not an Imperial German Pickelhaube. As 'Bobted' said, welcome! Also, if it fits, it's a great piece for carnival or costume parties. You can try to sell it on eBay, as a theatrical helmet, but I think it would be more fun...

Were the letters and wreath on the originals stamped out or cut with a jeweler's saw?

Here are some photos. I finally got to this today. The shelf above overlaps the acrylic panel and wood ends, once it's empty, the shelf is removed and a flat frosting knife is used to disengage the wood pins from the sides of the shelving unit. Then, the clear panel can be removed (both sides...

It's all from 'stuff' laying around the house. The acrylic sheet and oak trim were from another project. The oak ends are dado grooved and sprung to keep tension on the acrylic, then pins fit them into the holes in the side of the shelving unit. The lip of the upper shelf overlaps them and helps...

I think it looks pretty good on the top shelf. I'm going to swap it out with the Prussian artillery helmet at some point, so it's 'behind glass' (actually acrylic). ;)

Nice! I have reversible covers for one with a spike and one for a Kugelhelm, but none for a Shako, so that's one I've not seen before.
