Well, I did mention it was a fake.

Wrote Goodwill (a second hand /charity auction site in the US) and told them this was a fake Pickelhaube. They removed it, then reposted it without stating it was a fake. So.... caveat emptor! $338 down the toilet for somebody! https://shopgoodwill.com/item/262102020

    Wurt. M15

This is one I was never able to find, but have now, thanks to Gabe. It fills gap in my M15's, that I've been wanting to fill for years, so I'm very glad to be able to give this one a home.

    Saxon EM cockades Disregard..

DISREGARD. I don't know how to delete the post, so it has to stay. Anybody have a set of Saxon non-serrated enlisted cockades, original or replica (stamped) you're willing to part with? Thanks, Ron

    AOK 'Going to Shows' Photo

Did everybody see the "Short Break - Attending Shows' photo on the Age of Kings front page? (Scroll down on the page) It looks like they're ALL officer headgear! (jealous face). Here's the link. Worth a look around as well. ;) https://www.ageofkingsmilitaria.com/ Ron

    Hessen Train Bn. Officer.

I'm sure everybody who shops Age of Kings has seen this helmet, which nobody wanted. I think what put people off was the honesty of Randy and Remi. They listed that the plate was 'altered' at some point, having two centrally located attachment holes and two outer ones without studs. That put me...

What am I missing here, repro plate? Too damaged?

To me, this looks like a Prussian infantry officer helmet, Vulcan fiber body, with a lot of cracking and damage. I don't know if Vulcan fiber can be restored, but is there more wrong than I'm seeing? The seller sent me an offer for a percentage off, but I'm not interested in it, just watching...

    PBFB Marking?

Anybody know what this one means? Pioneer Battalion... ?? Feuerwehr?

Am I seeing this one correctly?

I see a wartime general's Pickelhaube. The 'lip' of the spike, where it's on the base should be rolled inward, this one is not, but wartime? A later manufactured type? The chinscale rosettes aren't curved, again, wartime? I'm not interested in the helmet, just wondering what others think...

    A Nice Project Bavarian NCO?

I'm surprised nobody has bid on this one yet. To me, it looks like a nice restoration project. I may be wrong, but if I were looking for a Bavarian NCO Pickelhaube at a reasonable price, I'd be on it...

    Goodwill's $1600.99 M15 What???

Was looking at this from time to time. It sold twice already and was returned to be put up for auction again. Am I missing something on this bid price? (I don't think so!). I was never interested in it, but I'm going to watch the outcome now! https://shopgoodwill.com/item/236727122

    Tarnish remover for brass.

Hi All, I don't use brass polish on my helmets, but wanted to remove some tarnish without creating a lot of shine. Looking on line for 'natural brass cleaners', they mentioned vinegar and baking soda, but one that intrigued me was 'Ketchup'. So, I took an old .50 caliber casing and applied some...

    Bavarian Reserve Officer Pickelahube

Hi all, Doing this for a fellow in my state who's selling this one. Bavarian reserve officer. To me, it looks like the rosettes are an earlier type (with the screw centers), that had the screws replaced with 'wing' fasteners for paper files. Anyway, here's the rub. He lives in Wisconsin, north...

Chin scales, Schuppenkette. Prefer convex, gilt.

Hi All, Looking for a set of scales for my Bavarian helmet, officer type (not for side-posts). I'd prefer convex for a Field Artillery officer (no markings in the helmet) If you have the rosettes as well, I need those too. Asking here, looking on eBay, etc. If you know of some originals for...

    Bavarian Reserve Officer

Coming over from the 'Latest Find' thread, the biggest challenge here will be sewing on the neck guard. Thankfully, I have very fine drill bits to clean the holes that are around 2mm apart. It will just take time and patience. I have yet to purchase fine needles and cotton thread for the sewing...

    Bavarian Restoration Helmet

Since retiring, my funds are rather limited, but my free time is greatly expanded! This from Age of Kings, listed as a 'Bavarian Reserve Parts Officer's Helmet', it arrived today, ready to have the neck guard sewn on and other items added. Looking forward to fixing this one up. Here's the page...

    Chinscale Question Revised.

Asked the question about chin scales a bit soon. Did a little searching, found most of it on my own. My only remaining question. Could an NCO or even a soldier below that grade from a unit that designates a leather chinstrap, purchase a nice helmet with scales for in garrison or parade? I know...

    Pimple, zits, acne, Hoods?

Ebay... Whoever it was that programmed whichever translator program to see Pickelhaube as 'Pimple Hood' has a LOT of explaining to do. (mine translates it as 'spiked helmet' and only Pickel (pimple) and Haube (hood) as single words. Oh well.
