Very nice! This brings back memories. We visited him and the museum for old toys which is located in the castle last year. It was a lot of fun. The kids were impressed by the old uniforms for children.

You’re right. He had this elastic strap. Somewhere I have a picture. I’ll have a look.
There’s an interesting thread about Huis Doorn: https://www.pickelhaubes.com/xf/threads/the-kaisers-collection.18083/
Jvpi posted some great photos!

Dear Steve,
There‘s a great post about him! Thanks to you!

Interesting! For me it looks like someone put the old HR 17 banner before 1873 with „PENINSULA, SICILIEN, WATERLOO“ on a Prussian M 1842 helmet for enlisted soldiers of a so called old regiment, Grenadiers, with the FWR monogram...
Dear Zeb, Dear Clovis 57, Thank you very much for your replys. It‘s not easy when it comes to these old models especially when it concerns the little German states. Sometimes you can find some references in books, but often with limited information. As Clovis 57 rightly said no A.K.O. 😟...
Please forgive me to be drop in here again.
It would be great to have a reference for that. Did the Holstein army really take over the Prussian model?
The Holstein officer helmet you refer to is from Masa’s homepage and it‘s the only Holstein officer helmet with Prussian style officer‘s...
This one I remember. Ritscher offered it about 15 years ago. It’s now in Japan. But is Ritscher a proper benchmark?

Weitze might not be a top benchmark.

Unfortunately it’s simply not easy when it comes to the old models.

Good question, which I have asked myself.
I found this picture in an older article about pickelhauben, in which the helmet is described in the end. Both helmets look similar.
