Very used leather pickelhaube shell with metal parts

I'm not sure this is worth anything other than parts, but if someone has some serious leather skills, they may want to try... I know this isn't worth much, I'm thinking $80 + S&H. Let me know if interested.

One can definitely see the similarities between these gendarme helmets and the model 1915 French helmet.

Ww1 German all steel lance Lieb Hussar Regt

Hello all. Just some thoughts from a guy who has spent four decades in the service of his country's armed forces, and who collects WW1 and WW2 artifacts, with a focus on the WW1 German metalhelm (Kurassier and Jaeger zu Pferde). 1. Soldiers are ingenious at uniform and equipment modification...

K R collection Helmets and uniforms

Tony, I really appreciate the reference, and I'll review it. I have one ribbon bar from WW1, and it has an Iron Cross, a service medal and some type of war service cross, so I can see something like that being attached on a tunic like this, especially like you mention in the inter-war period.

K R collection Helmets and uniforms

Tony, this is very interesting. Something I'm learning as I research this era's uniforms more is that even though there was standardization, there was still very much, individualized accoutrements when it came to some uniform items.

These uniforms are amazing! I see some of them have loops for medals. Do you have medal bars that go on them as well? Tim

Model 1915 Line Pickelhaube w/o spike

For sale is a project pickelhaube. It comes with everything shown: helmet shell, rear spine, spike base, and wappen. Both visors are reproductions glued onto the helmet shell. I thought I would get to this, but I find myself with no time, and limited resources. I'm asking $80 plus $15 S&H, as...

Officer 1843 kurassier nickel plate restoration

This helmet actually looks really good! If it was my project, I would take a wire wheel to the steel part to get rid of as much rust and any other finishes that have been put on it over the last 170+ years. It looks like there may be a bit of black paint on the visors and spike, which seems...

    JzP and Kurassier Discussion

As I look at posts and pictures of other people's collections, I notice so many different variations that I did not know existed, as I have seen no photos or written description of such an item. I have fifteen JzP and Kurassier Metalhelm (10 JzP and 5 Ku), and I've had to restore or conserve...

M15 Kurassier and Jaeger zu Pferde parts

Jonas, I thought so too, and especially considering how they started out. The Kurassier base and the spike with it were coated in gold plate, the Kurassier spike was bent and had rust I couldn't remove, and the other spike was coated in some weird black paint when I got it. The helmets they are...

M15 Kurassier and Jaeger zu Pferde parts

Trying to clean up my collection of broken, bent, rusted, or chromed, gold-plated Kurassier and JzP helmets and parts that do not make sense. So far, I figured out the winning combination of acrylic paint from Michael's that accurately replicates the gray oxide paint applied to the model 15...
