1st Dragoon Regiment Officer's saber

This is a special saber that officers of the 1st Dragoon Regiment were authorized to carry. Very similar to the 1852 cavalry officer's saber, it also includes a large nickel silver dragoon eagle screwed onto the guard. This particular saber is pictured in Herr and Nguyen "The German Cavalry". It's the same sword, not one like it.
