Any help from the wise ones

Hello All,

I’m new on here, I’ve recently been left a few items from my late uncle’s collection and I shall attach photos following this post (I think my file sizes are too big) I was interested to read that surprisingly scammers have been on here because I unfortunately have been targeted three by scammers, it’s much made me lose faith in selling items and I’m hoping one or a few of you can help me.

I have an unusual pickelhaube to sell, I don’t know much about it as I can’t find much out about it re the badge etc but I believe the spike on it is longer than other types of pickelhaubes and there’s some nice enamel type material on the badge featured on it. I think at least one of you would know what it is! I certainly hope so as I’m intrigued.

I also have a garde du corps I believe, a very striking looking piece. There are several other items (a few more pickelhaubes) which I’m still researching, but there is are also 2 uhlans, I think they are very nice looking.

I have had them looked at by 4 auction houses, all very happy with them and their authenticity and would like to sell but I’m not happy with the seller fee, and how late in the year the sales would be due to my upcoming relocation, I would rather they went to a collector who would look after them.

In the next 5 weeks I am leaving London and relocating to Dubai for work and ideally would like to have them sold by then, it’s a few less things to pack up! If any of you could help with telling me the best way to sell them or who with I would be very grateful.

Thanks for your time in advance.

the picture you showed is a Mecklenburg Schwerin general, in pristine condition, that is an extremely rare and valuable helmet (as this is a small state, en generals are expensive in any way) this helmet should be worth more than 10.000 euro I think. (a regular prussian general is worth about 5.000 depending on its condition, this helmet is way more special...
the picture of the Tschapka is also very promising, it is a rare tschapka of Hannover with its parade rabatte, (with a very special colour) thus also very valuable (I might be interesting in that one),

so anyone on this forum would like to have a late uncle leaving such a heritage,
I would sell these items without hurry to get the correct price, or keep them,

Just wondering if all the helmet parts are ok, and that's it.
From those who have looked at it, yes. All intact and good condition. It’s been well looked after in a collection and been in a cabinet for many years practically undisturbed. I was very interested with the info Michiel provided about the state. When I asked auctioneer experts they couldn’t definitively tell me so I’m pleased with that information.

Welcome to the forum, I would be leery about any Auction House that wouldn't know what type of Helmet that was. Any Pickelhaulben collector would be drooling over it and maybe members here keep very close track of just about every single Auction Hoses realized prices.

I would recommend maybe finding a better Auction House to help you get top prices or you can list your helmets here and save yourself the commission fees which can be very high.

Members here are honest and would be willing to help and not take advantage. (y)

Welcome to the forum and thank you for posting photos of this rare MS general’s helmet. I agree that our forum would be a good place to sell this piece if that is what you intend to. We have never had an issue with sales here.
From looking at your shot of the liner it seems that the interior is black in colour and not the usual brown of leather. This may indicate that the shell is made of Vulcan fibre an early form of plastic. This would explain the excellent condition of the helmet as this man made material is not susceptible to dry/humid extremes.
