Baden fire questions…

First, apologies for the terrible pictures and reflections. Saw this in an antique shop and had never seen anything like it with the comb and the ball. Is it real and did they have the comb and ball combo? Is their description accurate? How about the price, did I leave a bargain behind?

Thanks, Lance

Thanks for the comments gentlemen. I just posted as I had not seen such a helmet before with the comb and ball and because it is so unusual to find such a nice item in an antique shop these days. I can't remember the last time I saw a pre WW2 helmet in an antique shop. I wouldn't have been a player even at a more reasonable price as I left all my money at the MAX a couple weeks ago!

Happy hunting, Lance

PS, if anyone's interested I can provide the location.

Thanks for the photos Lance. I remember seeing similar helmets back in the 90’s in Manion’s auction catalogs. Some with balls, some with spikes and all with Imperial military wappen. I always thought collectors had soldered the tops on the comb to make a common fire helmet more sellable. So this was a legitimate design feature? Were they used by military fire units rather than public?
