Brunswick Picture

This running horse is named Meyers on inside and is on the Brunswick ranglist book listed as senior doctor anyone have a research book and can locate him? Im looking for a book to buy if possible to help verify the helmet. Please let me know? Thanks

The quality of the front plate and the beauty of the enamel leave no doubt as to the authenticity of this superb helmet.
For small states, the helmet of a doctor with reserve officer rank was exactly the same. (gold fittings, stars, front plate of the state officer, here Brunswick.)

Guys,

it is a lovely helmet, but I am intrigued by the suggestion that it woud be worn by a medical officer. The only exception in the Prussian army with regards a state helmet plate for medical officers were those serving in the Baden contingent. Mecklenburg and Hessian medical officers also wore state plates. A medical officer attached to IR 92 would wear a standard Prussian helmet plate.

Gary, could you please furnish an image of the the name inside the helmet?

Regards
Glenn

Hi Gary,

the point I am making, is that this is not the helmet of a medical officer. This helmet plate was worn by reserve officers in IR 92 from 1886 to 1912. In that period, exactly two officers with the name Meyer served as reserve officers in the regiment:

Willy Hermann Meyer (Landwehrbezirk I Braunschweig), commissioned 18 October 1891 and into Landwehr status in 1895/96 and

Willy Meyer (Landwehrbezirk I Braunschweig), commissioned 16 July 1899 and still in reserve status as an Hauptmann der Reserve in 1914. The latter Meyer was a customs official (Zollsekretär) in Braunschweig. He is not listed as serving in the active regiment during the war.

Yes you are correct their are to meyer who are listed I have the Earlier helmet and I know who has the later helmet Im trying to buy it and as soon as its available Im buying it they were both helmets together when purchased I was only able to buy one at time do to I wasnt able to get first pick but The one I have is a better choice by far as their are less running horse helmets out heir because they all upgraded most to the TK skull after 1912 but thats why less of the running horse helmets exist and mine is named and is in rangliste book and at some point I will own both helmets as a goal of mine, I was told the earlier helmet I have I was told was in the medical field but Im only going by what I was told, Thanks for info
