Converted raupenhelm?

Hello everyone,

I found this up for auction, I haven’t seen anything like this before and can’t find another example online. It looks like the body of a raupenhelm but with a spike on it instead, and the Bavarian cockade replaced with the Reich cockade. The lot description says it is a Bavarian jäger officer pickelhaube, but I’m really confused about this one.
Any thoughts?

For the sake of future reference, according to the classic book "Militaria" by Kube the Bavarian, that's an m1897 for heavy cavalry, the first Bayern pickelhaube, although it has the earlier one piece emblem from the 1861 Raupenhelm which can still be found occasionally on later helmets. I'm not saying it definitely wasn't made from a later gendarme or police helmet with a retrofitted "L" but there is a documented model based on this design according to Kube's book, which say what you will, it has some very interesting early helmets.
