French Trench Art Inkwell

Okay so I have a weakness for trench art and really like this piece. French inkwell with a French Infantry helmet and a Verdun crest. Really well made.

I may have a few too many pictures...... With and without flash.

A very nice, and well made inkwell Peter! Like you, I also like patriottic items, have several ones in my collection too.
Like minature helmets, cups and saucers, tin cups and more.

The only thing I haven't figured out is what kind of pen they would have placed on the back part. The pen rest is made of two bullet casings and isn't completely even in the middle. I wonder if they made a pen out of bullet casings as well and where to find one? Would have to be fairly thin.

Swa this one on the web but sold.

I also have a weakness for trench art; I love one-of-a-kind handmade pieces.

One of my favorites was carved by a Bavarian Soldier who was an accomplished wood carver and carved a Bavarian Soldier playing an accordion

That one is always on display in the main house even my wife likes it or at least tolerates it not really sure which. :ROFLMAO:

Would love to see a picture of the carving.
