Another epaulette won by my collector friend on the floor
at the Kube auction
I have been after this one for years
I bid what I thought was a heavy bid
but I was outbid
I was able to do a trade for it, and it arrived this A M
I wonder how many of these are still around that have
the Russian cypher and crown ?
This is the only one that I have seen in person

If I understand you correctly, you are asking which regiments also had the monograms of the Russian emperors?
1) Garde-Dragoner Regiment Kaiserin Alexandra von Russland Nr.2
2) Ulanen Regiment Kaiser Alexander III von Russland (1. Westpreussisches) Nr.1
3) Kurassier Regiment Kaiser Nikolaus von Russland (Brandenburgisches) Nr.6
4) Kaiser Alexander I Garde-Grenadier Regiment 1
5) Husaren Regiment Kaiser Nikolaus II von Russland (1. Westfalisches) Nr.8
6) Ulanen Regiment Kaiser Alexander II von Russland (1. Brandenburgisches) Nr.3
7) Koniglich Sachsisches 2. Feldartillerie-Regiment Nr.28

These two regiments had the monogram of Queen Olga of Württemberg, who was the daughter of Russian Emperor Nicholas I. This monogram has a crown, of course, a German, not a Russian type.

What I was really asking , is I wonder how many epaulettes from D R 24 are still
around .my understanding is that the cypher was removed when the 2 went to war .

That is a good question, I have seen epps where the N II and crown was also removed and replaced by the regiment number once they went to war.

Dear Steve, Excuse me, I misunderstood you.
I read about the monograms of Nicholas II that they were removed, unlike the monograms of other Russian monarchs. But I read it not in an order, but in popular literature. Therefore, I am not sure about the veracity

Here is what I have heard ;
I read it as the NII cypher of D R 24 was done away with in 1917 ( Thanks to Francis )
I had heard that IF the chef had passed away
the regiment kept the cypher
like in the case of the KAGGR#1
the Russian " A I " cypher
he had passed away , so they kept the cypher
D R 24 ; NII was still alive , so they did away with the cypher in 1917

Here is what I have in the way of shoulder straps for D R 24 officer.
Left a pair of full Col. Regiment Commander? with number 24 before the regiment got the cypher?
The only other possibility is a reserve officer, but I have not seen a Col. in the reserves shown in the Rang list
A pair with cyphers
A single with bright top and cypher, but with the 3 underlays of 1915
Major's pair with feldgrau cording and cypher and the 1915 three undelays
Last 3 underlays 1915 now with number 24 and no cypher after 1917
