IKEA Has a New Glass Cabinet

IKEA no longer makes the Detolf display cabinet, but yesterday I bought the new BLÅLIDEN (seriously, where do they come up with these names!). Assembly was fairly simple, though it came with a few expected IKEA headaches.

It is more flexible than the Detolf, as the glass shelves can be placed at seven different heights rather than three fixed levels.

I bought one for my Russian/Soviet helmets. Since it is only five feet tall, I have it raised by placing it on my @home home entertainment system, which doubles as a bookshelf.

That looks to be perfect for helmets. Looks like it would be easy to add additional shelves for one or two more. Glass could be easily sourced from a local glass shop. The only difficulty might be sourcing the corner brackets but I'm sure something could be found that would work if the actual IKEA pieces are not available.
