Feedback wanted on this one. I know the interior has been painted.

Charles, are the any markings on the helmet? Maker, size, or regimental stamp under the left post? I’m not too sure about the lack of detail in the eagle and the shape of the crown. But that’s my two bits.

It’s not my helmet so I don’t know what stamping may be in the shell. I could ask.

Your statements confirm what I was recently told. I wanted to share this for all to see and get opinions.

Here’s what the eagle & crown should look like

Amazing quality helmet. Obvious differences in the eagle’s crown etc.

The subject of Kürassier helmets with Eagles and Reiter helmets with Lions is one that Im very weak with education knowing real from reproduction.

Thanks

I agree with Amy.
Additionally, an EM helmet M1889 shouldn’t have a vertical rib on the back and I don’t like the GdC star.

Really… I figured the shell, the wappen, and cocades the to be real. I could tell the interior was reworked.

Wonder helmets and terrific photos Amy….

I’d love to own the one on the left. Looks like the beautiful one Dennis posted. His photo looks like a mint helmet straight off the parade ground

I see so many differences between the posted helmets and eagles verses the one I posted…. Thanks all

Hello all- my friend has sent me more photos showing greater detail.

Im learning about these high end helmets. I never knew the crown unscrewed from the eagle but it makes sense. I assumed it was soldered.

More opinions of the fittings, shell, eagle, etc are appreciated.

That’s again -

Im learning and its a great help to read critiques about posted items and images others post.

So I believe there are two types of crowns, screw in type like shown and soldered on versions as well.

I think this helmet is original, like it, in my opinion no red flags, nice patina, and convincing markers

Yesterday there was an officer tschapka on the forum for review, the rabatten were clearly a no go, (crude made repro) and remarks on repro cchinscales were also clear, but the rest… I did not like it but difficult to say why,
It is like beauty: difficult to define, but you immediately recognise it when it comes into the room…

Looks like someone drilled extra holes to reposition the chin scales to make them fit?
