dear fellow forum members,

it has been calm on the collecting front because I'm involved in a building project so I am low on funds for the collection,

but I recently bought a fine imperial prussian kurassier helmet to accompany my officer Kurass
I already have the kurass for years (beautiful with johannieter orden and full lining) , but it was incomplete without the helmet, so I could not resist when I saw one on age of kings...

Hope you like it

Fantastic! Wonderful display. Looking for one of those myself.

Both the kurass and the helmet were on my wishlist since I started collecting as a teenager, 54 years old now, so it took a while to achieve that goal, of course both items as Well as the palash are rare and much Desired items in our collectors community, this helmet is in my opinion the most beautiful of the entire imperial German army,
they do show up on high end websites and auctions, but those are out of reach for me, so if you are not able (or willing) to pay top-pices but are willing to pay a fair price ( which is also considérable amount of money), it just can take years to collect them, and that is the fun isn’t it? So now upcoming years looking out for a matching bandolier ( those in cornflower blue are easy but I need the other colours for line kurrassier…)
Not to offend anyone, I think AOK, is high end in qualité, but pricing seems fair, explaning the extreme velocity of sales on fridays that was discussed Here before

Proof that good things come to those who wait. :coffee:

Beautiful Ensemble - looks like the leather- parts are all fine, which is not always the case. Very nice display and lighting as well! Congratulations!

as this thread receives quite a lot of positive remarks, I would like to elaborate on some detaisl

1: this is the showcase on the first floor, a standard black metal cupboard custom remade with addition of glass shelf, removal of another metal shelf and addition of lights strips, (as will be the same with a lot of you, my wife only tolerates my collection when nicely put away)
2: the very nice thing of the prussian officer Kurass is the johannieter orden attached to it , see photo's,

Very nice display! Seems that putting a collection in glass cases makes a display look better. An English phrase or “saying” for that is to “kick it up a notch”
Acquiring a Preussen Cuirass can be a once-in-a-lifetime purchase.

Tony, you are right, behind glass with illumination things look better, all my woolen mutzen and other uniforms are behind glass in showcases foremost to keep them save from moths and other insects, secondly but of less importance because they look smart that way
