dear fellow collectors,
M1867 Tschapka Garde EM (and line regiment variant I already had)
today I picked this one up , brought from a show after purchase to me by a collector friend,
It is a M1867 prussian Tschapka , thus before the unification of germany into the kaiserreich by Bischmarck (Versailles 1870) after the Franco Prussian war.
so no Reichskokarde and no Knopf 91 but old style schuppenkette , and the larger sized "deckel"
I really like it because I adore Tschapka's, and I like the variation between the various models (M 1989, M15, metal top..)
(I'm a bit of a tschapka collector)
This one also appeals to me because our holliday home is close to sedan central theatre of the franco prussian war,
I also very much like the paintings by Alphonse de Neuville and his colleague Detail
depicting death Kurrasiere and Lancers on a panorama destroyed but of which fragments still exist, one of those is in musee d'orsay, another is in Sedan in the castle, each showing the characteristic Tschapka's on the battlefield.
As I have a collection that does not fit my show cases and the Chateau de sedan (biggest mediaval castle in europe they say on their website) I might offer my two M1867 tschapka's for display to them for their "salle 1870", (available for permanent display though want to remain the owner.
(I did send them a mail but did not yet receive an answer yet)
the Guard Tschapka is in great shape, the line regiment one is less beautiful, the feldziechen is not original, but the rest is (and of course fangschnurr and rabatte are missing).
Hope you like it
