Matt: Thank you for this additional information. I have owned this piece for over 4 decades . I bought it from a dealer here in Ontario Canada. It is very special to me.
 
@festwagner = TOPP! Your helmet saw the trench. RIR82 - 3 Batl. (III. Batl. - GOTHA ... this is the link to IR95)
Reserve Regiment of the XI Armee Korps.
That fits 100%. :) Great.
The "Thuringian Regiments" used the clothing & equipment of the regular regiments and redistributed to the RIR units.

First published 18.9.15, mentioning slight injury.
