-the area was destroyed during WW II. (Wikipedia). Magdeburg was heavily Bombed by British & American Air Forces during WW2. The RAF Bombing Raid on the Night of 16th January 1945 destroyed 60% of the City. Certain areas 90%.
I know they collected door and window brass handles and church bells in occupied Belgium. Brass brewIng kettles. In Germany collecting lids of their Steins...etc...Veterans pole tops to be melted down
