Museum with the Sthal helmet bund flags

I wonder that as well when I see these pre WW2 museums. I am sure the GI's or the Red Army took the lot. Rob
 
The picture shows the Magdeburg Zeughaus Museum in 1927.
-the area was destroyed during WW II. (Wikipedia). Magdeburg was heavily Bombed by British & American Air Forces during WW2. The RAF Bombing Raid on the Night of 16th January 1945 destroyed 60% of the City. Certain areas 90%.

I have a photo showing at some point in time when WWII started the Germans
took all the pole tops of the veterans flags to be melted down

My grand father worked for a metal factory in Belgium (know as "de metallurgie" or Union Miniére) during the war, he had quiet a colletion of brass objects, with numbers on it, after the war....
Going from vases over ship material,....
His pride was; he saved a church bell from destruction in a small village near Antwerp.

And his father had a brewery from who the cupper kettles had been requisitioned...
