My brother picked these up at a garage sale.

Sorry to say that I agree.
The helmet is for an enlisted man
the skull is not only bad but incorrect for the rank
but you are sure not hurt on the price paid
Here is how it should look I R 92 View attachment 62975

What’s your thoughts on the shako? I was worried the whole helmet was fake. I was going to give my brother 400 for the helmet. He paid 50$ for it but he has a wedding coming so thought I’d try to pay a fair price for it

IMO the shako is O K ; Just missing the liner
The eagle front plate on the Infantry would need to be checked on the backside to
see if it is O K .

You personally what one would you take for your collection? I have a few Gew 88 and Kar88 and a Gew 91 I’d like a helmet to display with. Just hard to decide, I appreciate all the help and honesty.

I feel the Jager is correct
the other needs more inspection unless you would display
a helmet that is not correct

Hi,
I think your brother did very well, the Pickelhaube shell looks ok, and if they didn't punch holes in the Wappen to attach the skull then that would leave you with a nice displayable Pickelhaube (minus the skull). The chinstrap might be a repro. The Tschako is missing the rear visor and liner, and the front visor seems to be resewn, but looks nice from the front with a private-purchase Feldzeichen.
Regards,
Lars

What would you think be a fair price for the Tschako?

Well, except for the wrong scull on the M15 haube, I like both the M15 haube and the tsjako. That wappen can be easily changed to a good Prussian M15 wappen. The Tsjako has several parts missing, but can display well. $50 well spent I'd say.

Might as well leave the skull on it its not really effecting the value. The shako is knackered but good for display give him $400 for both. Rob

The chinstrap is a reproduction. The Shako does not have its Reichskokarde, chinstrap and neck cover.
The ‘Koenig’ eagle with its Brunswick Totenkopf (JR92) is a fake, and does not correspond to the A.K. IV. No roundels, no chinstrap. Yes for 400€ the 2.
