Howdy all, hope everyone is well!

So I have a helm here in helping my friend authenticate and identify. I plan to drop in and see it in person to help as well. Currently these are the only two photos I have.

I will have more photos at a later time but for now this is what I have to work with.

It appears to have a Baden cockade, dosen’t seem to be standard military style.

I assume it may be a local police

Looks like an officers helmet of the schutzmannschaft from the Grand Duchy of Hesse dating from circa 1899 to possibly 1918 with the intertwined initials 'EL' for the last Grand Duke Ernst Ludwig Karl Albrecht Wilhelm.
Would you happen to have any photos of examples?

Also what would the price of something like this be?
It looks to be complete and generally in very good condition. Unfortunately I don't really know what a helmet to this unit would be likely to be worth - hopefully one of the more knowledgeable forum members will be able to give you a ball-park estimate.

Hard to tell from the pictures but it looks almost like it has been painted (fittings) with gold paint. Or I guess it just could be loss of the finish?

Were schutzmannschaft police or military? Was reading through the forum on what I could. Noticed that this name was mostly associated with police or fire fighters.

Oui, officier de police à Darmstadt. En France, ça vaut 600€ car pas militaire, comme les officiers de Douane.
Les officiers de pompiers valent encore moins. (Traduction ulterieure).

This helmet is for an officer in the Grossherzoglich Hessischen Schutzmannschaft. The EL is for Ernst Ludwig. If your friend is interested in selling it I would be interested.
I’ll let them know!

the store is the War Front in Kirkland Wa, they have a website and number. I’m headed there after work today do feel free to give em a call.

Her final price is $700, should be listed now.
