I have a vintage Pickelhaube. It appears to be Bavarian and pre WWI. Can this forum add details to what little I know...and perhaps suggest a matter-of-fact resale value?

Welcome here on the forum.
This is a Bavarian M15 helmet (model 1915), so not pre WW1. It looks okay, only the damage to the bottom of the spike base. The kokarden are fitted the wrong way around, the Reich kokarde, red/white/black, should be on the other side, the Bavarian kokarde looks fine. Not sure about the Reich one though..Switch them around. Chinstrap is unfortunately broken. Are there any markings to be found on the inside?

While the lining is in excellent shape, I see no markings of any kind.

3 Questions:
1) What do you suspect the front plate and the pitch are made of?
2) Are the French 'kokarde' and 'cockade' used synonymously?
3) Thoughts about resale value, based on what you see?

Beautiful helmet.
One rivet is missing, the spike base is bent and lifted, the chinstrap strap is cut, and the regimental number has been scratched off. In France, it costs €800 because the chinstrap and the cockades are available for pre-order despite these issues.

Well, I think you mean by pitch, the spike assembly, so including the base?
If so, the wappen (frontplate) and spike are made of steel.
On question 2, these two are indeed used regulary, but mean the same.
On question 3, I agree with CLOVIS 57, though I have seen better ones for less, but the market seems to go up.
