Pelzmütze Saxony

Dear all,

What do you think about this piece?

I’m not sure at all. It’s always difficult with these kind of headgear. Does someone know the dealer Karlheinz Müller?

Thank you!

Best wishes,

GardeUlan

I do know of this dealer from years back.
I have an old catalog from him. He was selling many items of the Czar of Bulgaria
also at the same sale were both of the GFM batons of von Bock u. Polack
so, back then I would consider him to be one of the top dealers.
The Saxon H R , it is hard to say. They are so far and few and between for us to see
I have a collector friend who had them years ago, before his collection turned to all Prussian
Also there is Brian Sanders who has Saxon officers today in his collection.
However, Brian is not a member of PH.com
Two or three things seem a little strange to me
the chin straps sit rather high placement on the body
There is something about the plate behind the Saxon coat of arms and the reserve cross
I have not seen before an exposed bamboo / wicker frame before as we see at the top
but it could be they have always been covered up by the silk liner?
I look forward to hearing what others have to say.
There was a collector in the USA back in the 1970's who turned to the Dark Side
and was putting together a new (at the time) opossum fur officers bodies
but then used all 100 % original parts .Almost impossible to tell
I would think that some of them are still out there somewhere today
and they are now 54 years of age on them
Steve

the story of put together opossum officer busbies is also familiar to me... heared that story before.
There is al lot of fake stuff out there in militaria in general, but in officer busbies it seems even worse,
Typical sealskin manschaften busbies seem quite recognizable as original or fake,
but with officers it is another story, and al of those on the marked seem miraculously well preserved...
furthermore, maybe I'm old fashioned but Ebay is not the place to search for real topstuff for me, too much shit on that platform.

Good point! Thank you very much!

I just saw that Weitze sold a Saxon H R 20 opossum fur for 14,500 Euro
It has the correct parade bush
A re look at the one for sale on EBay
it could very well be good
I now see that part of the inside silk liner IMO is missing
so 7,000 Euro would be 1/2 of the Weitze sold price
maybe a good deal for who wants it or can afford it

Thank you very much! That’s what I always hear, too. A lots of fakes going around for many years. I found an advertisement from Müller from 1983. He seems to have been a long time in business including restoration.

The Weitze sold piece also has the correct Saxon officers fangschnurr

Before the H H auction of the Jim T helmets for sale
Weitze bought the Officers H R collection of Jim T
I don't remember if the H R 20 was part of it ?
I know the H R 15 was from Jim T
