For my part, I bid quite strongly on #301, Hauptmann Walter Casparis helmet. But not strong enough...Went for 4800 Euro + tax = 6000 Euro 😑
And #300 (the medals and convolut of Caspari's military life after 1918, his participation in the Bremen Freikorps) gone for 44000 + tax 🤪
There are still Rockefellers among us....

Hi Philippe,

that certainly is an interesting helmet. Thanks for bringing it to our attention I looked it up and read the description. What a close call he had, the helmet with the letter to his wife really tells an interesting story and adds to the value. (y)(y)

I recently had a similar experience at an auction on a helmet I really liked. I left a totally crazy price on a helmet to hopefully scare other bidders off only to be told I was the second highest bidder 🤪 I did win a box of cockades which had a complete chinstrap in the bottom, so it wasn't a total loss. (y)

I identify with you both...happened more times than I can count. All it takes is one other person desperate to have whatever you are interested in...and with deep pockets!

Thankfully, it's sometimes balanced out by scooping up something for much less than you were prepared to pay. It's an adrenaline game, the auction biz. 😺

I understand what you write.
I have a friend who goes in person to each Kube auction.
He has told me that there are bidders on the floor
that hold their paddles up until they win
Especially for special auctions like the one sometime back
that was the huge complete outfit collection
It took Kube 3 auctions to sell it all
I forget his name
Brant or something like that ?

Has anyone received the result list to Kube's Auction 148 , 29 March 2025 ? I bid on 2 items and according to his post auction sale list they were sold. I must have lost again. I would just like to know sooner than later. As noted above ,no modernization in the foreseeable future for Herr Kube!

I'm afraid....waiting for the postman.

-Great picture:
#1: think we see an improvised anti-aircraft MG 08 Support.
#2: pigeon cage with attached filters.
