Shoulder Board ID

I recently picked up a foot Artillery shoulder board that is marked with a "SM" over a "70". ANy idea what the SM means? Thanks

Yes it is astonishing, but do not blame Glenn for being so slow this time, he does have other things going on from time to time. we need to realize that some times we must wait a few minutes for an answer to a question that 20 years ago would have taken months to find if at all.

Sound Ranging Troops were Army level units and were distributed down to divisional level as required. Schalmeßtrupp 70 was a component successively of 8th and 6th Army and then Armee-Abteilung C.
