Offered for sale is a very nice condition Bavarian ersatz felt pickelhaube with brass trim. Felt body is the thicker felt style, and the felt is rigid, and the shape is in perfect form.
The Liner is Missing from this helmet.
Chinstrap is a replacement, made using old leather. I am not certain if the brass adjustment buckles and the side mount brass attachments on the ends of the chinstrap are original, or if they are old copies. The brass seems to my eyes to be a bit thinner than the normal original chinstrap brass fittings should be.
I believe the kokardes are original. I acquired them on a horribly damaged M15 Bavarian helmet shell which I sold to Brian at this last S.O.S. The holes seem to be slightly larger than the M91 side post mounts.
There is a tiny pinhole in the center of the back visor area, and there are a couple of small surface cuts on the wearer's right side of the helmet, located in the 2 o'clock area to the upper right of the National Kokarde, as seen in the last photo I will post below. The cuts DO NOT go through the felt, they are shallow and only on the surface area of the felt exterior. I circled the 2-small surface cuts in red, and added text to the last photo I have posted below.
The two original brass grommet rings are intact for attaching the wappen, as seen in photo. Wappen is held on by two leather wedges.
This helmet makes for a very attractive display piece, even with the missing liner. It will make for a good addition to any collection.
Price: $875.00 or "Best Offer" + Postage.
Payment via PayPal "friends and family" is preferred. Bank wire transfer is also available.
USA Postage: $18.00 via Priority US Mail w/Tracking.
Canada Postage: $35.00 via First Class International Mail.
European Postage: Belgium, France, Germany, Netherlands, Poland, UK: $60.00 via First Class International Mail.
Australia, New Zealand, and Singapore Postage: $65 via First Class International Mail.
Thanks,
Alan
