Howdy all, I hope everyone is well!

today I’m gonna be showing off some of my many, MANY postcards from my postcard collection.

Postcards were my first real dive into the imperial era of collecting. I have some very rare sets that I’ve completed and obtained over the years. I’m very proud of this collection even though I rarely show it off.

Note: I won’t be able to post all them in this single post so be sure to watch this thread as I add more with time! 😁IMG_7750.jpeg
My personal favorite, “Als er wieder kam!”
This piece was painted by my favorite artist Arthur Thiele. Thiele was a very famous artist from the time, known for his animal arts and his patriotic pieces.

IMG_7752.jpeg

My second favorite, this piece is named to artist known as Frank K. Not much else is known about this piece or the artist.

IMG_7754.jpeg

Another favorite of mine, this one is a patriotic card welcoming the Bulgarians into the central powers during the Great War.

“Fräulein Feldgrau”
She was quite a common face among the soldiers at the time, some would consider her postcards and art to be early Pin-up for the time!
As far as I can tell, some of her cards aren’t always her but often a good mix of other women from the time. (Most likely the lovers of the recipients of these cards)

A card simply called, “Grenzwacht” by Gemälde von Berthold Clauss.

IMG_7757.jpeg
Another card from Arthur Thiele called, “Anton Magerfleisch, der Goulaschkoch”
This card shows a big boned German serving up his comrades the meal of the day!

IMG_7762.jpeg
A stellar card depicting Wilhelm II at the helm of Germany guiding her through turbulent times!
Artist simply known as, N or H Lemke

IMG_7767.jpeg
A patriotic card depicting the Kaiser’s personal yacht SMY Hohenzollern as well as some patriotic imagery. The official name of this card appears to be, “Volldampf voraus!”
No official Artist signature.

“Der letze Mann” by Hans Borhdt
Borhdt was a very famous naval artist of the time and was well known for many of his heroic depictions of German sailors. This being his most famous piece, the last man. This one was created for the men who fought at the battle of the Falkland Islands.

IMG_7768.jpeg
A patriotic card depicting children in uniform carrying flags!IMG_7774.jpeg
A card showing Kaiserstandarte. The flag of the German Kaiser.

IMG_7765.jpegIMG_7764.jpeg
Two beautiful yet somber cards by the same artist whose name I cannot transcribe. One is for SMS U.29 and the other for SMS Scharnhorst.

I think for now this is a good stopping point, I’ll surely post more later today and over the next few weeks!

This doesn’t even scratch the surface of my collection here, so stay tuned!

All the best!
