Wanted: Original M15 gummimaske with canister

My pleasure KD,

Exactly right this mask and filter were both made by ADG Auergesellschaft of Berlin . The KuK marking shows it was made specifically for Austrian use.

If you look closely, you will notice the thickness of the straps and also the addition of "Spiralbaender" which was the new harness system featuring cloth covered springs. Both of these features identify this mask as the second model of what you're calling the gummi mask.

The canister is indeed the A3 variant which was only made by the Austrians. I would definitely consider it a fully authentic gummi kit [mask, filter, and canister]. It's a very rare example showing a combination of German and Austrian made parts making a complete set that would have been issued to the Austrian army during WWI.

All the best John Josef
Thank you for this John. This is solid information and helps me greatly. Your wealth of knowledge is much appreciated.

All that have chimed in, I thank you greatly. A few posts ago I shared a German made mask created strictly for the Austrian army (marked with the KuK symbol). I was able to source it through Bastion Militaria and ended up making the purchase. It’s an original kit, used and named, and is definitely a rare bird. I’m happy to have found it and it will be a cherished part of my collection. Please see the link posted below. Thanks to all!

Haha, yes, collectors are usually not willing to part with the items that mean so much to them. In other words, collectors collect, they don't sell. I completely understand. If nothing else, maybe you can share a few photos of any of the examples you own. Always nice to see images of untouched examples. Can I ask you John, are the Austro-Hungarian gummis more difficult to find than the German gummis? More rare to come across? I feel that when they do come up for sale I see German gummi examples more often. All the best!

P.S. Attached are some photos of my modest collection.
Great collection! Nice French M2! Here’s mine.

Matt
