Hello Folks,
I am a newbie trying to find out as much as I can regarding this tschako. I have the following information that I have gleaned from online references, but because of my lack of experience my assumptions may be completely wrong.
Please find below some photos and the information that I have so far. I know I would very much appreciate any thoughts, corrections and input.
Thanks!
1) The shako or tschako is headgear that was worn by the various units of German Police.
2) This one may be a 1930’s – 1940’s era piece.
3) Different versions of this headgear were created for the different police forces that existed in Germany before and during the war. 4) References suggest that this all black version may be an earlier type used before the police moved to green ones, perhaps used in Berlin?
A maker’s label, the chin strap and the string for the headliner are missing. There is no indicator of size.
Thank you very much for any help you can provide.
