I heard this month that Chris Mills, author of "The Jaunty Hat," the study of Anglo-Indian sun helmets, passed away in November. He had devoted his time to the study of British and Indian tropical helmets. I believe he was also working on a book on the Enfield Pattern 1853 rifle. I don't know if...
I would add that Edwardian is also 1901-1910, even if from the 1920s, it would be later than the Edwardian Era.
I thought these were the "cheap" part of white tie attire. In other words, the shirt was expensive and you'd replace the collar. Those stains are from someone quite POSH.
