Grosser Lion Head Saber with von Bülow family coat of arms. Help with possible Ids

What an exquisite sword! Top drawer quality, Being able to attribute it to its own original owner would make it as good as it gets.

The backside of the Wappen does give the game away, but, as castings go this one is very well done.

A Wonderful Afternoon at Schloss McFarland

Steve: I don't employ the word "Amazing" very often. It's one of the most overused words in the English language, But, your collection is Amazing.

    26th Regiment (The Cameronians)

I found this history of the Cameronians quite interesting. My family came to Upper Canada from the Scottish Lowlands (Roxbouroughshire) on The Borders in 1849. They were devout Presbyterians although that ardour has diminished over the generations. :D

    M18 Camo Steel Helmet

Hard to tell if this chin strap is original. I suspect that elements of the clip assembly have been reproduced based on an original strap. As has already been observed, the leather and stitching of the clip assembly looks too new to my eyes. Whoever did it did a good job of it. Below a...

    Mützenbänder of Imperial Times

Thanks for taking the time to craft that detailed reply. I have good condition Mutze to a Werft Division sailor attached to SMS Konig Wilhelm. I posted it a couple of years back. I'd like to find a comparable one with the gold lettering of the Matrosen Division. Not necessarily to any...

    Mützenbänder of Imperial Times

This is a very interesting facet of collecting. Each ship has it's own unique history. I've been keeping an eye out for a decent Mutze with a tally from the Matrosen branch (gold lettering) but they are much harder to find. It makes sense that more tallies would have survived from the Werft...

    Post your "Hate Belts"

Justin: I've always referred to these as :Hate Belts" and this one is the busiest one I've ever seen. It's a great piece. Just a note on the "Canadian Scottish" shoulder title. The unit was listed as the 16th Battalion C.E.F. It was a 1st Division unit and was home to some very distinguished...

    Antique store offer

Looks good to me. It appears to be all original with the exception of the mis-assembled spike base plate. I'm guessing the rear spine is original but the solder securing the attachment prongs to the shell has let go as the shell shrunk slightly over the years, If these store owners are calling...

    JustinG collection

Justin: I too am fascinated by the era of airships. I have no actual artifacts but I have a lot of reading material on the subject. At one time I was toying with the idea of collecting postcards but I already have enough money sucking hobbies. You have a great collection. Love that Luftschiff...
