My new item. I am looking for information on whether anyone on this forum has a pickelhaube from this regiment?

I have an 1891 pattern enlisted ranks helmet to the 10th Company 2nd Battalion.

I'm in Portugal at the moment so I don't have access to it. But I am home in a couple of weeks.

Hi,

Yes, I own a M95 initially marked R62 (and not 82!), BA VI 1908, which is correct for this unit, then transfered shortly before the war to the 22. R.J.R..III.B.
Named to a wearer (Valentin Nowok from Radoschau / Radoszowy / Kattowitz), 12/RJR22) who was KIA May 1915 on the Loretto-Höhe. First reported missing in 1915, officially declared killed in action in a 1917 publication listing German casualties.
A salty and absolutely untouched french trophy of war.
The RJR22 was formed in Ratibor (Stab and IIB), in Rybnik (IB) and Kosel (III B). Note that the JR62 had its prewar garrison in Kosel (Kozle) and Ratibor (Raciborz).

Thank you very much for the information!

Wojtek:

I am back from my (too short) Winter vacation in Portugal so I pulled what I believe to be my 62nd Regt helmet from the shelf. I say "believe to be" because as you can see in the photo of the rear visor right hand side, the marking is somewhat unclear.

I've interpreted the markings to be 2nd Battalion but that couldn't make the 10th Company correct?

I'd be interested in your opinions on the markings.

I think I can read from the left to the right: 3B - 10.C - 1 2 - 62.R
This is an old M91. The 10C is matching with the 3B.
Further, the 1 and 2 could be the Garnituren downgrading, as on one of my helmet (most of the time, one can see I II III and so on, but rarely: 1 2).

Oui, j'ai remarqué l'incohérence ci-dessus ; un 2B ne peut pas avoir 10C.

I B = 1,2,3,4C
II B= 5,6,7,8C
IIIB = 9, 10, 11, 12C

Thank you for taking the time to comment.

I think you are correct regarding the 3B. The marking is unclear even in the daylight and with magnification. However, the 10 C is quite distinct so given that the unclear digit to the far left is only one character the number must be a 3.

Looking again at the marking to the immediate right of the rear spine. I see a large dot approx. 6mm in diameter followed by the 2. I think this must be a Garniture mark.

I also should mention that the Wappen is a pattern 1871 secured through non grommeted holes with the period square nuts. The use of a domed fastener on the rear spine instead of the more common squared nut I found to be of interest.
