infantry officer of the guard

Canrobert

This is what I believe is an officer from a regiment of the Guard in the 1860s; the name on the back is illegible to me.

Does anyone know his regiment and the rank?

Given the location - Potsdam and the white epaulette field, presumably 1. Garde-Regiment zu Fuß.

Seconde-Lieutenant Maximilian von Gordon is a suspect. He died of typhus in December 1870.

Glenn

Thank you for this information about the regiment and the name, which seems plausible.

All that remains for me is to do some research to learn more about this Maximilian von Gordon.

Where did you find this information about a death due to typhus?
