C Canrobert New member Nov 22, 2025 #4 Thank you for your help. "von gruber" also seemed plausible to me, but unfortunately nothing matches here: https://www.digitale-sammlungen.de/en/view/bsb10594906?page=1

G Glennj Well-known member Nov 22, 2025 #5 Given the location - Potsdam and the white epaulette field, presumably 1. Garde-Regiment zu Fuß. Seconde-Lieutenant Maximilian von Gordon is a suspect. He died of typhus in December 1870. Regards Glenn

C Canrobert New member Nov 23, 2025 #6 Thank you for this information about the regiment and the name, which seems plausible. All that remains for me is to do some research to learn more about this Maximilian von Gordon. Where did you find this information about a death due to typhus?
